Taco Soup  Recipe

  • Cozy up with a bowl of Taco Soup, made with Ortega Taco Seasoning. No tacos required, but with all the flavor of the real thing!


  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/4 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans of diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 14 oz of low sodium beef broth
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups of Green Giant® Whole Kernel Sweet Corn, drained
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can of Ortega black beans, drained and washed
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can of pinto beans, drained and washed
  • 1 packet of Ortega Taco Seasoning 
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • cilantro, chopped
  • lime juice
  • sour cream (optional)
  • cheddar cheese (optional)


  1. Heat large pot on medium-high heat and add oil.
  2. Add lean ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until ground beef is browned and onions are translucent. Add chopped jalapeno and minced garlic and cook until fragrant. (about 1-2 mins)
  3. Stir in beef broth diced tomatoes with chiles, tomato sauce, corn, pinto beans, black beans and Ortega Taco Seasoning. Cover pot with lid and let simmer for 30 mins or until beans are soft.
  4. Stir in chopped cilantro and lime juice. Serve hot and top with sour cream or cheddar cheese, if desired. Enjoy!
